Oh no...is this my first blog post of 2024... where has the time gon e
Anyhow HELLO! I'm coming at you with a new blog post, the first one of the year!
So back in January, I found myself taking some old OC designs and redesigning them! I came across them while reorganizing older files in my art archive (p much everything from 2019 and before!) and thought it'd be fun! A lot of them I ended up purging and only keeping the "active" ones (which were characters in the stories I had planned). Eventually I'd forgotten about them and fell out of drawing them as a result (forgive me..)
And speaking of that I had a ton of characters. The lore is that I had nearly 1,000 OCs at one point!!
I even kept track of them as per this old blog post, but I don't do much of that now. Maybe I'll keep a list of them somewhere, but probably not as intensive as I did in the past haha.

The first is Toon, a Techchian! In older scripts of Star Quest, I actually replaced Yunne's role as tech support for the starship with her. She was active around 2014 or so before I swapped her back with Yunne.
Now, she's a photographer! And she has a fixation on bugs and insects! And mushrooms! She enjoys taking pictures of them and reading about them.

The next is DeMella, one of the older characters! She was initially a character I created around 2010 named Constella. iirc I kept this character's design and reused Constella's name for another character who I hope to talk about in a future blog post.
She was an astronaut in the past, and she still is now! She has a lot of confidence and determination, ready to take on life's challenges!

And the last character is Dormir! For them I haven't decided on a new name, so let's call them ??? for now! They were simply an alien that had a funky hat that gave them the ability to use magic. I have a feeling that this character was inspired by Magolor from the Kirby series in some capacity, since that was the most recent Kirby game when I created them haha.
In their new design, I made them rounder, removed the horns and made it a part of the hat. Can you trust them? Probably not.
Also while searching for old doodles and references of them, I've learned that the hat was sort of controlling them and had a mind of its own? The hat even had eyes! Interesting... if I ever expand on their story, I'll definitely rework this!
